Product details
One could easily confuse the Meta AM 29 with the Meta AM V4. However, quite a few changes have been made for the 29" platform. What has changed: dropouts, shock and dropout/seatstay axles, shock mount in the top tube and head tube. What is the focus? Improving dynamics, optimizing stiffness, ease of handling, compliance and efficiency, more support and grip, as well as an enhanced finish. A significant difference can be found in the position of the main pivot point. The new positioning allows for greater dynamics and efficient pedaling with significantly reduced pedal feedback. This saves a lot of energy during long enduro races, which is always appreciated by our fit EWS riders. Commencal has never aimed to produce the stiffest frames on the market. Instead, we prioritize finding the right balance between precision, tolerance, dynamics, and grip. Nevertheless, larger wheels require a stiffer frame to maintain that balance. Bigger wheels mean greater leverage on the frame, and 29" wheels tend to flex more than 27.5" wheels. Newly shaped seatstays with a bridge provide higher torsional stiffness. The rocker link is equipped with larger bearings for greater reliability and stiffness. Its shape contributes significantly to the overall stiffness of the chassis. Additionally, a lot of work has been done on the frame construction to accommodate 432 mm chainstays with 160 mm of travel. That’s 6 mm less than our 27.5" frame. Even with 29" wheels, we aimed to create a bike that rides light and efficiently. To achieve 160 mm of travel on a 29er, some adjustments to the seat tube were necessary. The flat seat angle, combined with a significant offset, allows for a steeper and more effective seat angle than on the Meta AM V4.2.
