This is the Castelli jacket for commuting - made to deliver maximum function on the bike and then look good when you get to work.
We wanted a jacket that provided maximum visibility during the night commute, but didn't look ridiculous with all sorts of silver reflective tape and stripes when you arrive at the office. That's why we put an almost invisible reflective print all over the surface of the jacket. You don't really see it when you're riding or wearing the jacket off the bike during the day, but at night the jacket reflects a distinctive pattern to draw attention to itself.
We didn't leave it at reflective. The 20,000mm water column means no water gets through. And the 20,000 MVTR breathability means a good amount of moisture can escape. But it's the ventilation details that make this jacket stand out: There's a cuff at the waist that you can close to seal out the wind, or leave open to let in some air from below to keep you cooler. This inner cuff allows us to make a jacket that falls straight at the bottom - a much cleaner and more sophisticated look than a jacket with pleats that come from an inner elastic band.
