Question about De'Longhi Magnifica S

I replaced my old De'Longhi after 8 years. I never used a filter and was sometimes careless with the descaling programme.
I would definitely descale (more disciplined than I was). I run my new one (Magnifica) without a water filter. I use a mild descaling agent. The new De'Longhis do not only descale via the steam nozzle. So they are much better than the old ones.
In short: Descaling: absolutely! Water filter: not necessary.

Thanks for the detailed answer :-) With the prices of the decalcifier patorne, I prefer this method.
