These glasses make even drinking water a spectacle
by Pia Seidel
Whether you're doing sports, working or travelling, a water bottle is a handy companion for every situation. Drinking is not only important during sports but also in everyday life. An adult should consume about two liters of liquid per day – and even more when doing sports – in order to meet the body's needs.
Water bottles are available in all shapes and sizes. Water bottles are generally made of aluminium, glass, stainless steel or plastic. Plastic bottles, such as the BPA-free Tritan, are suitable for sports, as they’re versatile, light in weight and easy to handle. Stainless steel bottles, on the other hand, are durable and robust and, when insulated, can keep beverages warm or cool for a long time. Glass bottles don’t affect the flavour of your drink and are easy to clean.
If you’re looking for a bottle that’s suitable for biking, hiking, camping, jogging, climbing or fishing, go for one that’s designed for sports and outdoor use. Sport bottles from brands such as Camelbak, Nalgene, Sigg and Sponser are ideal for this. Shaker cups by Blender Bottle or Dymatize are ideal for sports nutrition.
Stylish design bottles and insulated bottles are suitable for everyday use. Brands such as Chilly's, 24Bottles or Swell are very popular. Bottles with fruit containers or fruit presses are handy and allow you to infuse your drink with more flavour.
When choosing your bottle, pay attention to the type of closure and large openings that allow for easy cleaning. Although many bottles are dishwasher safe, manufacturers recommend cleaning them by hand to make sure they last longer.
