The coffee grounds are added to the pot along with hot water and left to steep for a certain period. The coffee grounds mix with the water, allowing their aroma to infuse the water—the duration of this process determines the strength of the coffee. In a second step, the plunger with the metal filter is pressed down to separate the ground coffee from the water. The finished coffee is noticeably more aromatic and stronger than coffee made using the conventional paper filter method.
