Timo Sarpaneva was awarded the Gold Medal from Faenza for the "Suomi" shape, the highest honor in the world of porcelain. Today, "Suomi" is one of Rosenthal's most successful services.

The history of the Rosenthal manufactory dates back to 1879, when the now world-renowned company was founded in Selb, Bavaria, by Philipp Rosenthal.
