The tado° Smart Radiator Thermostat is mainly controlled via an app. There is no remote control that has been specially developed for these thermostats. The heating is controlled and monitored via the tado° app on the smartphone, as well as through integration with smart home systems such as Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant.

Yes, they will work without thermostat and central heating system. The valve is able to keep the selected temperature if the radiator delievers enough power. The valve just regulats the incoming water flow.
Anyway, mine don't work with rechargeable batteries, which is a shame (bought about 2 years ago). Maybe they have improved that in the meantime, though.

To use Tado with the app, the Bridge is necessary (the additional device). The Quattro Pack is an extension for additional thermostats. I have Tado with 6 thermostats in operation. Works perfectly. Small hint -> Tado has a Black Friday promotion. Maybe it's still worth the wait.
Are there any spare parts somewhere? I am missing an extension pin and a screw to fix the adapter...
