Yes, it can be left out - the machine doesn't recognise it. It is only plugged into the water tank.

The portafilter is basically made of metal, but there is a disc (I mean made of silicone) under the replaceable portafilter insert, which can also be removed.

The scope of delivery includes a 360° steam / hot water wand and 3 sieves, a pressure sieve with a sieve tray diameter of 54mm and a pressureless sieve for 1 and 2 cups as well as a sieve for E.S.E. pads.
