NO, you should definitely not cut bread with a smooth cutter, but ALWAYS with a serrated knife! However, unlike the meat cutter, this can be a cheap plastic model, as precision is not required for the approx. 15mm thick slices of bread.

The knife is made of stainless steel and therefore not chrome-plated.

No, I have not found a serrated knife, neither at Berkel nor anywhere else.
If the machine remains plugged in, the stop button lights up. For safety reasons, however, I unplug the machine after every use anyway.

There are 2 possibilities: Either with stain remover from the pharmacy or with Potz Expert sticker remover from Migros.
