The Nesmuk L cutting board is made from solid oak wood with an end grain appearance, measuring 43.5 cm in length, 30.5 cm in width, and 4 cm in thickness. This cutting surface features a juice groove on one long and one short side, 1.5 cm wide, which facilitates the transfer of chopped ingredients while retaining liquids. The board utilizes an end grain construction from the heartwood area of the wood, which, due to its high tannin content, offers natural resistance to bacteria. The end grain orientation protects knife blades by allowing cuts between the fiber bundles rather than across them, while the dense heartwood structure minimizes moisture absorption. Each wood slat is individually hand-selected and joined using a wood welding process to create a harmonious, symmetrical pattern. The surface is finely sanded and treated with natural linseed oil and beeswax, resulting in a smooth, silky finish that repels moisture. Integrated grip grooves on the sides provide space for small plates when transporting food. For secure placement on various work surfaces, the board features firmly screwed rubber feet on the underside. This cutting board is produced in a small workshop in southern Germany using traditional craftsmanship techniques, with a focus on durable materials and functional design for kitchen use.
