MHW 3Bomber Flash Tamper 2.0

Tamping compacts the coffee powder in the sieve to obtain a firm and uniform coffee cake with a smooth and even surface. Correct tamping avoids the channelling effect and achieves an even extraction of all the coffee powder. This releases all the flavourings from the coffee. This is the second generation of the Flash Tamper from MHW 3Bomber. The Flash Tamper 2.0 is a pressure-controlled tamper with a preset pressure of 13.6 kg. When the preset pressure is reached, a mechanical signal sounds as feedback and the tamper releases the pressure again. After several tests, MHW 3Bomber has established that at a constant pressure of 13.6 kg, the extraction rate is almost the same for different quantities of powder and different extraction times. The outer ring, which lies flat on the sieve support, ensures that the tamper is always pressed down vertically. The tamper is simply placed on top and pressed down, the spring pulls the base back up again. This tamper fits perfectly on 53 mm portafilters. Through repeated testing, MHW 3Bomber has determined that 53.35 mm is the perfect size for levelling tools and tampers. These fit exactly into 53 mm portafilters and reduce wastage of coffee powder. The tamper has an ergonomic handle and sits comfortably in the hand. In addition, the base has concentric grooves, which means that more coffee powder comes into contact with the water, resulting in better extraction. The entire tamper is made of high-quality materials. The handle is made of solid walnut wood, the middle section is made of an aluminium alloy, the base and spring are made of stainless steel (SUS304). A replacement spring is included. The entire tamper can be dismantled and is therefore easy to clean. With this tamper, perfect coffee extraction can be achieved when used correctly.
