The side wall of a springform can be released with a clamp lever: the ring opens, allowing you to remove the base of the mold and reattach it. With a flat base, cakes and cake layers can be made in the springform. The base with a central chimney replaces a ring mold for cakes and ring cakes. Unlike other baking pans, the finished cake does not fall out of the springform. Instead, you release the tension lever - the cake separates itself thanks to the non-stick coating - and lift the ring upwards. Since the bottom support plate is slightly larger than the ring, springforms are completely leak-proof. They are available in various sizes and shapes, such as round, square, or heart-shaped.
