Iittala Aino Aalto Drinking Glass Set of 2

Drinking glass from the Aino Aalto glass series with a capacity of 22 cl, available in a set of 2. Aino Maria Aalto (1894 - 1949) carried her well-known surname through her marriage to the architect Alvar, with whom she shared more than just love. They were also professional colleagues and, in 1932, even competitors for the favor of the professional audience: although she dedicated the majority of her life's work to interior design, she won a national design competition for the best drinking glass design against her husband at that time. Four years later, the ribbed drinking glasses from the Finnish manufacturer iittala won a gold medal at the Triennale in Milan. The rings on the vessel walls were inspired by the ripples created by a stone hitting the surface of the water. Additionally, the wide, flared shapes at the top can be easily stacked together. Today, the Aino Aalto drinking glass represents the oldest design alongside the bowl and carafe of the same glass series in the complete iittala catalog.
