Designer George Sowden
George Sowden studied architecture at the Gloucestershire College of Art. In the 1970s, he moved to Milan to work with names like Ettore Sottsass and Olivetti, and in the 1980s, he became one of the founders of the Memphis Group design collective. He has won numerous design awards, including the prestigious Compasso d'Oro Award. Today, he continues to live and work in Milan. For HAY, Sowden has designed the coffee and teapot, the Sowden bottle, the travel mug, the Sowden canister, Salt & Pepper, the Sowden toaster, and the Sowden Kettle.
