The device can froth cold milk, heat it (up to approximately 65 °C), or do both simultaneously, thanks to its two different attachments. Whole milk is best suited due to its high protein content, which is responsible for the foam, and its fat content, which acts as a flavor carrier. However, lower-fat milk varieties and plant-based alternatives like soy or rice milk are also suitable for frothing.
