Classic 4-ply quality yarn made from 100% wool. Perfect for felting in the washing machine.

If you enjoy knitting clothing in winter, you will love Melbourne wool. Its excellent insulating properties make it ideal for warm, hand-knitted garments. The finished knitted items can be hand-washed at 30 degrees. When the wool is washed in the washing machine, it becomes very dense and firm, making it perfect for felting.

Knit sweaters, scarves, hats, and mittens from wool – or create your own slippers by felting the wool in the washing machine:

  • Set the washing machine to 40 degrees and add soap flakes and some towels. This increases friction and leads to more effective felting. Use a mesh laundry bag or a pillowcase to protect your washing machine during the felting process. The hotter the water, the more the wool shrinks/felts. Shape the wool while it is still wet.

Gauge: 18 stitches x 23 rows = 10 x 10 cm with needle size 5.5.
