Bezzera Unica PID

The Bezzera Unica PID is a single boiler machine from Bezzera featuring an E61 brew group and electronic PID temperature control. With the PID module, both the brew temperature and steam temperature can be individually adjusted. The coffee brew temperature can be set between 80 °C and 100 °C, while the steam temperature can be adjusted between 105 °C and 120 °C. Due to its single boiler design, it is not possible to use steam for milk frothing simultaneously with espresso extraction. The switching time between steam and extraction mode is approximately 2 minutes in practice. Therefore, the Bezzera Unica PID is primarily aimed at ambitious espresso enthusiasts.

With the E61 brew group, which originated from the famous Faema E61, the Unica is firmly rooted in the tradition of professional portafilter machines. The pre-infusion guarantees maximum temperature stability and consistent results. This sophisticated system has become a model for high-quality brew groups. Combined with electronic PID temperature control, there are no limits to fine-tuning the espresso. This control allows for precise adjustments of both brew and steam temperatures, enabling home baristas to tailor their machine to the coffee being used.

Typically, single boiler models, unlike dual boilers or dual boiler machines, test the patience of coffee lovers when preparing milk-based drinks. Often, the steam boiler needs to be heated to the correct temperature for frothing milk after brewing espresso. The Unica addresses this issue with its PID control (which stands for proportional – integral – derivative). The intuitive operation allows for quick switching between brew temperature and steam temperature. Within just a few minutes, the ideal temperature is displayed, and frothing can commence joyfully.
