Alessi Tray

Light plays transform the simple shapes of the round tray Extra Ordinary Metal into something truly special, with timeless beauty.

The Extra Ordinary Metal collection combines Alessi's historically grown experience with typical elements of Italian culture and expresses the search for new possible interpretations of metallic surfaces. We chose brass to industrially reinterpret a refined and ancient goldsmithing technique: Etruscan granulation. This is achieved through a cold pressing process with brass, resulting in an interaction with light, creating a kind of bright skin that highlights both complex forms and pure, neutral lines. The arrangement of the 'grains' is geometrically determined by the Fibonacci sequence, established by an Italian mathematician who translated the golden logic of classical proportions into numbers. This principle, which underlies balance in nature, expresses timeless harmony and becomes the extraordinary creator of this project.
