Maigret lässt sich Zeit

At the age of 53, just two years before his retirement from the Paris Criminal Police, Inspector Maigret begins to take stock. He is particularly upset that in twenty years he has not been able to solve a series of robberies of Parisian jewelry stores. Maigret has long suspected that a certain Manuel Palmari, who used to gather information for the commissioner in the underworld, is behind it. However, Maigret lacks the necessary evidence against the man, who is in a wheelchair after an assassination attempt, can no longer leave his apartment in the Rue des Acacias, and has no contacts whatsoever except with his young girlfriend Aline, a former streetwalker. Then Palmari is shot dead. And it does not remain with this one murder in the house in the Rue des Acacias.
