Ladies' Lunch

Lore Segal is an American writer born in 1928 in Vienna, who lives in New York. Throughout her career, she has written novels, short stories, essays, and children's books, and was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize. She has also worked as a translator and taught creative writing at several American universities. Her contributions to the magazines New Yorker, New York Times Book Review, and New Republic appear regularly. The trained interpreter Karin Hanta completed a doctorate in Translation Studies at the University of Vienna. For Hentrich & Hentrich, she translated letters written by Stefan and Lotte Zweig from South America back into German. She has already engaged with the life and work of Lore Segal in her monograph "Back to the Mother Tongue: Austro-American Exile Writers in the Austrian Literary Field" (Mandelbaum, 2020).
