Sally and Liss: two women who couldn't be more different. Sally, just before her high school graduation, wants to be left alone. She hates pretty much everything: offers, regulations, rules, adults. She hates questions the most, especially those about her appearance. Liss is a strong, reserved woman who seems to handle the work on her farm with ease. From their very first conversation, Sally realizes that Liss is different from other adults. There’s no secretive scrutiny, no hasty judgments, no suspicious questions. Liss offers her a place to stay on the farm. One night turns into weeks. For Sally, the older woman is a mystery. What kind of person is she, who never talks about herself, who lives alone in a house where the presence of others can still be felt? As they mark trees, harvest potatoes, and Liss describes the old pear varieties in her orchard, whose taste Sally loves so much, the two women grow closer and gradually learn about the wounds that have been inflicted upon them.
