As far as I can remember: a wall/ceiling hook with dowels was included; I didn't use them.
The climbing bag at home hangs on a narrow thick board between two pieces of furniture using the strings supplied.
Interestingly, only the youngest of 3 cats regularly climbs onto the hanging bag (for "claw care")

Yes, a dowel and a hook are included.

Unfortunately not, and my cat didn't accept it either.
