My net is placed right in the roof of our house, always exposed to the sun, so I can confirm that to date it has not deformed in the sun.
Our cat can't reach it so I don't know how the resistance is in case it gets chewed.

Yes. I cut mine out. However, you will no longer have the wide edge that prevents the net from coming apart. (Personally I sewed the ends and it hasn't moved for 2 years).
There is a set of hooks etc for installation but indeed it involves drilling. I found a non-invasive way with plastic hooks which are commonly used for mounting anti-bird installation on roofs or so. They are ca 3x4cm, transparent, flat on the bottom and they have a tiny hook on the top surface. You glue them bottom side to flat surface (floor, wall, ceiling, any other stable/solid surface). Then you hook the net to them. You will need one every 10-15 cm to keep the net solidly mounted and stretched (so that your cat doesn't get inbetween the hooks under the net)

The net is already very durable and stretchy. Our cats, which weigh about 4 kg, hang on the net from time to time without it tearing or wearing out. I could imagine it being sufficient for a "small" football goal. However, in my opinion, it doesn't necessarily depend on the size of the goal, but how hard it is shot at :-D. However, it could be sufficient as a net for a children's football goal.
Otherwise, there is of course the ready-made solution, which is usually not much more expensive. The nets used there are certainly more stable and therefore designed for this purpose:
