Optiballast Enteral Powder Supplementary Feed

Optiballast Enteral Powder has been developed by veterinarians and can help your dog restore its digestive balance. Optiballast Enteral is made from 100% plant fibers such as cellulose, pectin, and psyllium seeds, which can be specifically used as prebiotics. The fibers provide nourishment for the important bacteria in the gut, allowing them to recover more quickly during digestive disturbances. Additionally, damaged intestinal mucosal cells are supported in their regeneration. Indirectly, the powder can also help relieve the liver and kidneys, as the intestinal contents are acidified, resulting in less of the waste product ammonia being produced, which is then not released into the bloodstream but excreted with the feces. It can support the dog in both diarrhea and constipation.

Feeding instructions from the manufacturer:
It is recommended to start with ½ teaspoon, as the gut flora needs to adjust to the intake of the fibers. The daily amount should then be increased by ½ teaspoon each day. If the dosage is initially increased too quickly, it may lead to unwanted side effects such as diarrhea, as the short-chain fatty acids produced can cause osmotic diarrhea when present in higher amounts in the gastrointestinal tract. The powder should be thoroughly mixed into the food.

The dosage can be increased up to a maximum of 1 g/kg body weight per day. If the stool becomes softer, the individual limit has been reached, and the amount should then be reduced by ½ teaspoon.
