Wholeprey includes meat, liver, heart, kidneys, and cartilage. The meat content is 70%, with no plant protein concentrates. The food is low in carbohydrates and high in protein. The ingredients are sourced fresh from the farms and waters of Western Canada.

Acana believes it is especially important to clearly define what fresh and raw means for pet lovers. For Acana, fresh means that the ingredients meet AAFCO requirements: refrigeration is considered the only method of preservation. Raw means that the ingredients are the same as the fresh ones, with the only difference being that they are frozen.
