Hello Daniel, I've had the Simplehuman soap dispensers for several years - but unfortunately not the first generation either! There are rechargeable batteries in them, which probably get "tired" over time. In 2020, I contacted Simplehuman and received the following reply. I received the answer in D and E:

Thank you for your email and I'm sorry you are having issues with your sensor pump. Unfortunately, we do not carry out repairs for these products as they are manufactured as whole units outside of the UK. However, please follow the steps below to get your pump working again:

1. press the + button to increase the setting and try again.
2. clean the valve with a damp cloth to remove any soap residue and try again.
3. soaps with exfoliants or moisturising beads are not compatible with our sensor pump. For thick soaps or lotions, the sensor pump must be set to a higher setting to dispense enough product.
4. press and hold the + button until soap comes out. Soap residue may have sealed the valve. Try gently flicking the tip of the rubber valve to break the seal and allow airflow.

Unfortunately, I don't know of a service centre. Could it be that the sensor is blocked with some soap? Good luck
