Violan seat cushion for Eames armchair. For the first time, Metz Textil & Design breaks with its own tradition – but the company from Aschau am Inn does so for a good innovative reason and with a clear conscience: Instead of using real wool felt, Metz Textil & Design relies on Violan, a purely plant-based felt developed through years of meticulous work. The material feels just as high-quality as soft merino wool felt but is made from plant residues and wood fibers. As a seat cushion, the felt is sewn in two layers with decorative stitching, allowing the cushion to be used on both sides. Equipped with a padded inner lining, the cushion has a good grip but can only be hand-washed at 30 °C. In this specially shaped design, the impressive seat cushion fits perfectly into the consistently shaped seat shell of the original Eames armchair.
