Since the discovery of coffee in the Orient, the willingness to consume this potent brew spread very slowly across European regions. The first contacts with coffee through European scholars occurred as early as the 15th century. However, it wasn't until the late 17th century that the first Viennese coffee house opened in Austria. This was followed by the opening of French "cafés" in Paris and many other coffee houses in Hamburg.

Thanks to this long tradition, we can enjoy many different coffee drinks today. In addition to the typical "Viennese coffee," there are Italian varieties like "Café Latte," "Latte Macchiato," and the small pick-me-up "Espresso."
