Incandescent lamps achieve the expected performance and lifespan when: a) they are operated at rated voltage through a stabilized 50 Hz AC power supply. b) the ambient temperature is within the range of +20 °C to +25 °C. c) no mechanical vibrations occur. Deviations from these criteria significantly affect the lifespan of the lamps, especially for filaments with low currents (≤ 80 mA). Operating with a DC power supply at the specified voltage can extend the stated lifespan by up to 50%.

The effects of deviating from the rated voltage should be noted: exceeding it by 5% can shorten the lamp's lifespan by up to 50%. Dropping it by 5% can significantly extend the lifespan. The power consumption can vary by up to ± 10% from the specified values at rated supply voltage. Therefore, special caution is required when connecting multiple lamps in series. In these applications, it is recommended to reduce the rated voltage by 10% to avoid premature failure of individual lamps.
