Incandescent lamps achieve the expected performance and lifespan when: a) they are operated at nominal voltage via a stabilized 50 Hz AC power supply. b) the ambient temperature is between +20 °C and +25 °C. c) there are no mechanical vibrations. Deviations from these criteria significantly affect the lifespan of the lamps, especially for filaments with low currents (≤ 80 mA). Operating with a DC power supply at the specified voltage can extend the stated lifespan by up to 50%.

The effects of deviating from the nominal voltage should be noted: 5% above shortens the lamp's lifespan by up to 50%. 5% below significantly extends the lifespan. Power consumption can vary by up to ± 10% from the specified values at nominal supply voltage. Therefore, special caution is required when connecting multiple lamps in series. In these applications, it is recommended to lower the nominal voltage by 10% to avoid premature failure of individual lamps.
