Normann Copenhagen Shorebird

The Icelandic designer Sigurjón Pálsson has created a series of characterful wooden birds. The simple, unadorned silhouette of the shorebirds gives them an almost stylized expression. At the same time, great attention has been paid to small details such as varying body thicknesses, neck lengths, and the positioning of the legs and beak. This gives each of the three birds its own personality and brings the design to life. The largest of the three birds is inspired by the Eurasian curlew, with its long neck and distinctive downward-curving beak. It is an aristocratic creature. Its long legs take slow, deliberate steps as it cautiously surveys its surroundings. The medium-sized bird is alert and active like a redshank. This elegant bird is often found alongside other waders. Finally, there is the sandpiper, a sociable little bird that is often seen in large flocks.
