1965 Pendant Pendant Light by Gubi

Originally designed for the Finnish House in New York in 1948, Finnish industrial designer Paavo Tynell presented the 1965 pendant light. This lamp was part of his extensive portfolio focused on lamp design. Tynell often used perforated brass as a material to create interesting light objects inspired by organic shapes. The 1965 pendant light features a beautifully shaped metal shade that emits a warm glow. A milk glass diffuser softens the light, while a triangular hole pattern gives the exterior of the lamp a vibrant illumination.

The Danish design brand Gubi launched the Paavo Tynell collection in 2018, and the 1965 pendant light is part of this collection. Tynell was also an entrepreneur with his own company, Taito Oy, and taught as a lecturer at the Helsinki University of Technology and Arts. He was married to glass designer Helena Tennell, who also worked as a lighting designer.
