Georg Jensen - Penumbra Centerpiece, Medium

Developed in collaboration with renowned architect David Thulstrup, Penumbra is an impressive design object made of high-polished stainless steel and available in three sizes. The design features a visual effect created by the contrast between the oval center and the rectangular outer shape. Penumbra draws inspiration from various design movements that have defined Georg Jensen's designs over the last century, from Danish Art Nouveau Skønvirke to Functionalism. The name of the piece refers to an area that is partially illuminated, relating to the reflection of light on the contrasting forms.

Penumbra can be used alone as a central artwork for the table, but also as a bowl for food or fruit. Whether used horizontally or standing upright, it offers two distinct expressions.
