Gift wrap by Stewo – Making gifting more beautiful. Founded by elementary school teacher Josef Steffen in 1860 in Wolhusen, Lucerne, Stewo initially produced paper bags and envelopes at home. Alongside factory buildings with their own printing press, the continuous developments and, starting in 1954, a dedicated laboratory led to many technological advancements. In 1934, Stewo became the first manufacturer of gift wrap in Switzerland, introduced the first visibility strip bag for packaging fresh bread in 1971, and presented the first metallized paper in 1984. By dividing its product range into various lines, including eco-friendly gift wrap and establishing its own design studio in Wolhusen, Stewo kept pace with economic and societal trends in the 1990s. Today, the company is part of Baier & Schneider GmbH, prints around 40 million meters of gift wrap annually, has a special napkin collection, and exports to over 40 countries worldwide.
