Product details
The area in the wild north of Sardinia stretches across the diverse regions of Planargia-Marghine, Sassarese, Gallura, and Baronia. Turquoise sea, long white sandy beaches, and rocky coastlines run through all these wonderful regions. Sassarese, for example, not only attracts visitors with its dreamlike beaches, beautiful colors, and bizarre rock formations, but also delights the palate with the island's only DOCG wine. The Gallura area is also referred to as a moon landscape with its radiant sea. The Costa Smeralda, a favorite among stars and the wealthy, is likely the most talked-about destination. Only a few tourists venture away from the coast towards the interior, where shepherds still herd their flocks and archaeological sites and mysterious caves await discovery. The second-largest island in the Mediterranean is full of contrasts: secluded coves, a crystal-clear sea shimmering in all shades of turquoise, as well as lonely mountain villages, forests of cork and oak trees, and idyllic vineyards. Unique to Sardinia is the port city of Alghero, fortified by the Catalans in the 14th century. Surrounded on three sides by bastions and fortress towers, it offers pleasant walks along its walls.
