They are placed on top. But they hold quite well. Great product. If there are children running around or wild animals in the vicinity, I would question the stability.

If you search at digitec: Flexson floor stand, you will find one that is for sonos one and sonos play 1. If you want to spend a bit more, I would recommend this one: Flexson Sonos PLAY:1 Floor Stand (White) It's more expensive but height adjustable. This stand from Flexson is relatively low. I also have one of these at home and it reaches just above the couch (big sofa). So a couch without a high backrest...

Hello, I can't say whether both box types fit on it. I use the ¨Stands¨ exclusively with Sonos One speakers. (I think I once read that both boxes are identical in terms of their housing ...). The stands shown above are made of aluminium/metal, not a trace of cheap plastic. They look stylish, are robust and I am very happy with them. Conclusion: recommendable!
