The picture is not correct. It is a CH keyboard with ä/ö/ü
As the picture shows, it is a "QWERTZ" keyboard. So yes, it is a German keyboard.

You mean when the folding keyboard is attached to the iPad and covers the iPad display? No, the back of the iPad's case is not protected by the keyboard. But you can fold the keyboard so that the back of the iPad is protected; only then is the display free.
