They are filled with small beads that produce a rattling sound when shaken, just like the popular Latin American maracas - at a different altitude for each colour. Maracas are rhythm instruments that are particularly popular in Latin American music, such as rumba, samba and bossa nova. The use of maracas in kindergarten and school is obvious, but also as a group activity, for example at children's birthdays or children's parties, because the shaking eggs encourage children to make music and experiment with rhythms for the first time.
