Winter protection: how to prepare your pot plants for winter

To ensure that you can still enjoy your plants next season, it is essential to put them under cover before the first frost - i.e. in October.

These 5 tips will help your loved ones get through the winter:

  1. Choose a cold-resistant pot.
  2. Place the pot on small feet or a roll stand to avoid direct contact with the ground. If temperatures are mild (above 0), plants should be watered. The water must be able to run off, to prevent the dish freezing and the plants being damaged by frost. If temperatures are below zero and the soil is frozen, you should definitely not water.
  3. Insulate the pot with coconut fibre or a winter cover.
  4. Tie the coconut fibre or winter cover with jute rope.

Decorative idea: for the festive season, decorate the pot with red mesh.

  1. If you have the opportunity, put your potted plants under cover - in a pavilion, greenhouse or conservatory. You can also put them in the cellar or garage to protect them from snow and frost.
