Vivo X90 Pro Plus: The first smartphone with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2
Vivo was the fastest and has presented the first smartphone with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 - but so far only for China.
The Vivo X90 comes in three variants and only the X90 Pro Plus features the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 from Qualcomm. In the X90 and X90 Pro, the manufacturer installs the Dimensity 9200 from Mediatek. Both offer Wi-Fi 7 and ray tracing, among other features.
Three smartphones with common base
. The three variants of the Vivo X90 share a common base. This includes a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with 2800 × 1260 pixels and a refresh rate of 120 hertz. Each has 12 gigabytes of RAM and 256 gigabytes of internal storage. In China, the manufacturer uses OriginOS, which is based on Android 13, for the new smartphones. In Europe, Vivo's user interface is called Funtouch OS.
The front camera takes selfies with 32 megapixels on all three smartphones. The main camera and an extra portrait camera have a resolution of 50 megapixels in all new launches. However, Vivo does not use the same sensors in all models. In the X90, it is the Sony IMX866 and an unspecified sensor with an f/1.98 lens. The X90 Pro and Pro Plus use the Sony IMX989 and the IMX758. The latter with an f/1.6 lens. The X90 and X90 Pro deliver wide-angle photos with twelve megapixels (Sony IMX663) and the X90 Pro Plus with 48 megapixels (Sony IMS589). The top model also has a fourth camera. The periscope lens offers a 3.5x optical zoom and a resolution of 64 megapixels (Omnivision OV64B).
There are further differences in the battery and charging technologies. The X90 charges its 4810 mAh battery with up to 120 watts. The X90 Pro also uses up to 120 watts, but comes with 4870 mAh and manages up to 50 watts wirelessly. The X90 Pro Plus also offers 50 watts wirelessly - with a cable, on the other hand, it reaches a maximum of 80 watts and has the lowest battery capacity at 4700 mAh.
International availability still unclear
Vivo has announced the X90, X90 Pro and X90 Pro Plus for China only for the time being. The manufacturer did not yet provide any information on international availability. It could be as early as the beginning of 2023. But probably not all three models will make the leap to Europe. From the previous generation, for example, the manufacturer only officially offers the X80 Pro here.
When I was but a young student, I'd sit in my friend's living room with all my classmates and play on his SuperNES. Since then I've had the opportunity to test out all the newest technology for you. I've done reviews at Curved, Computer Bild and Netzwelt, and have now arrived at Galaxus.de.
