Update from Wohlen: most temporary logistics positions filled

As our order volume is skyrocketing, we've spent the last days and weeks recruiting logistics staff for Wohlen and Dintikon – with great success! We've hired around 150 new colleagues who've already taken up work in our warehouse.

The corona crisis hasn't only put a halt to public life, it also means many people are forced to look for temporary work opportunities. Many of them are from craft businesses, the catering industry or stage construction. Following our announcement two weeks ago, more than 1,400 people contacted us. We've therefore deactivated the job offer. You'll find more vacancies here.

In the last few days, our HR team has buckled down and reviewed all applications – with the help of other departments. They encountered many stories, from people who have existential fears to parents who answer the phone for their sons and daughters and applications from Morocco or India. Our shout out struck a chord with many people.

In the past few days, about 30 people did a trial session in our logistics team each day and we've hired 93 people in total (that's a bout 10 a day since 17 March). Cooperations with third-party companies have allowed us to employ another 80 people.

Help from companies

Around 50 companies also contacted us, some of which were interested in sending their entire staff to us for the time being. The event industry has been hit especially hard by the current situation. Numerous companies expressed great concern and empathy for their employees. In many cases, managing directors themselves approached us, concerned about the future of their staff and wanting to offer them an employment as fast and unbureaucratically as possible. What a great match – we’re happy that around 40 employees from Eventhand GmbH and 25 people from Stage Crew GmbH are now helping us out.

Our temporary colleagues from the company Eventhand in Kreuzlingen. They usually set up stages for concerts or General Assemblies – now they’re supporting our packing team.

In the last few days, the order volume has stabilised at a very high level. Thanks to all the applications we've received, we're confident that we'll have made up the backlog in about 2-3 weeks.

Help from the shop and office staff

In addition to the new recruits, many Digitec Galaxus employees from the offices in Zurich and the stores stepped in and helped out over the past few days. An average of 35 employees from the shops in Zurich, Wohlen, Bern, Basel, Dietikon, Langendorf, Kriens and Winterthur are working in Wohlen every day. All other shop employees from German-speaking Switzerland are helping out as mailers, callers and product experts – Wohlen is too far away from locations such as St. Gallen. Shop employees from the French-speaking part of Switzerland are supporting our customer service team in Lausanne.

We'd like to thank everyone for their support!
