It’s Trailer Tuesday. This week we’re not just looking at last week’s trailers, but more and what’s been impressing recently. In simpler terms: Pikachu, Rocketman and Spider-Man. With two Horror/Suspense flicks thrown in.

«Detective Pikachu» launches this week, and Ryan Reynolds is revealing how he slipped into the role of the small yellow furball on his private YouTube channel. There’s a new silent horror movie on Netflix, and one of Shirley Jackson’s greatest classics of literature is being released exclusively in the USA. What’s more: «Rocketman» will be huge, and the «Spider-Man: Far From Home» trailer reveals what happened after «Avengers: Endgame».

Detective Pikachu

Ryan Reynolds on how he found his very own connection to the character of Pikachu. Instructive, poetic, but most of all impressive. We’re tipping our deerstalker caps.

Release date in Swiss cinemas: 9/5/2019

The Silence

«The Silence» is a horror movie in which people can’t make a sound. If they do, something nasty will notice them. In this case it’s mutant bats. This used to be fresh a few years ago. Now I’m getting sick of it. You can watch «Don’t Breathe the Mist of a Quiet Bird Box Place» on Netflix. «The Silence» as well.

Start date: 16/5/2019

We Have Always Lived in the Castle

Few authors manage to write a genuinely unsettling story for adults without falling back on brutality or violence. Shirley Jackson was one of these authors. Now one of her greatest classics is coming to the big screen: «We Have Always Lived in the Castle». The book – released in 1962, three days before Shirley’s death – stars two sisters and their heavily sick uncle. The entire rest of their family died five years prior under strange circumstances. Everything is horribly revealed when their cousin comes to visit.

Release date in US cinemas: 17/5/2019 Release date in Swiss cinemas: unknown

Rocketman

The special thing about «Rocketman», starring Taron Egerton in the main role, is that this Elton John biopic is told by way of a musical. Uplifting, dazzling and inspiring. Nothing could be better. After all, no one flew higher during their career than Elton John – or fell farther. The musical movie was produced by Matthew Vaughn. Among others, he directed both «Kingsman» movies as well as «Kick-Ass». A good sign.

Release date in Swiss cinemas: 30/5/2019

Spider-Man: Far From Home

Attention: the new «Spider-Man: Far From Home» trailer resumes just after «Avengers: Endgame». Be sure to catch up before checking out this new trailer.

What's new? Peter Parker (Tom Holland) ignoring Nick Fury's (Samuel L. Jackson) phone calls, Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) being a way bigger threat than his VFX-nerd comic version and Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau) just being happy to help. And of course, there's the suit. The new black suit!

Release date in Swiss cinemas: 4/7/2019

I'm an outdoorsy guy and enjoy sports that push me to the limit – now that’s what I call comfort zone! But I'm also about curling up in an armchair with books about ugly intrigue and sinister kingkillers. Being an avid cinema-goer, I’ve been known to rave about film scores for hours on end. I’ve always wanted to say: «I am Groot.»
