As part of our smartphone reviews, we also measure battery life. If that’s an important factor for you, here are the ten devices we’ve found to have the longest.

To many, battery life is one of the most important factors when choosing a smartphone. For years, devices would only last a day. Thanks to advances in battery technology, this is slowly changing. Battery lives have noticeably increased over the past year and a half or so.

24 hours of continuous operation

With an impressive 28 hours and 14 minutes, the Oppo Find X9 Pro is the endurance champion among the smartphones tested. Closely followed by the Ultra version. Keep in mind, this is based on continuous use. With everyday operation, these devices will last two days without needing to be recharged.

You can find detailed reviews of other devices – which cover more than just battery life – by following these links:

Chinese manufacturers with a technological edge

A mere glance at our list of top performers reveals that Chinese manufacturers dominate. There’s a simple answer for why: silicon-carbon. Batteries made with this material can store more power for the same volume. As a result, these smartphones have a battery capacity ranging from over 6,000 to 8,000 mAh. Major manufacturers outside of China haven’t adopted this innovation yet. This is mainly due to concerns about longevity (article in German) regarding the new batteries. Samsung and Google are sticking to the 5,000 mark so their batteries don’t get too big. The Pixel 10a still made it into the top 10. It’s just so damn efficient.

To illustrate this, I looked into how many minutes per 1,000 mAh a smartphone provides. It isn’t as important as the total duration, but it’s still intriguing. You see the potential that still lies in other models. This way, three new smartphones make it onto the list: the Galaxy S26 Ultra – which, with a total runtime of 18 hours and 3 minutes, just missed the original top 10 – the [Huawei Pura 80 Ultra](/page/zwei-linsen-ein-sensor-huawei-pura-80-ultra-im-test-40156 and the Nothing Phone (4a).

How we measure battery life

There are countless ways to measure a smartphone’s battery life. This, in turn, yields a wide range of values. As a result, devices generally last longer when playing videos than when filming or playing games. So it’s important to always measure the same way.

We fully charge the battery, set the brightness to 50 per cent, and run the Work 3.0 battery test from PC Mark. It runs through a loop of various activities – scrolling in the browser, playing videos, writing e-mails and so on. When the battery reaches 20 per cent, the test ends. Consequently, the values we list don’t correspond to the battery being completely drained.

Since the PCMark app isn’t available for iOS, we didn’t list iPhones either.
