This hell of a blender puts your moped in the shade

If this blender had two wheels and a saddle, you would have to brake uphill. The NutriBullet Rx is an unrivalled powerhouse. Thanks to it, even hardened rockers will want to prepare a smoothie.

When I saw the packaging of the NutriBullet Rx for the first time, I was honestly a little shocked. I didn't expect a blender to need such a large box. Why would it, it's a blender and not a washing machine. The weight is also not negligible. I recommend having the item delivered directly to your home or picking it up by car. I would have preferred to know this beforehand, as I had to lug the box around Zurich on the tram in the middle of rush hour.

When I unpacked the NutriBullet, I quickly realised why the packaging was so oversized. In addition to the massive base in which the electric motor is installed, three different containers and a book with recipes are included in the delivery. The materials used feel very high-quality and robust, presumably also due to the weight.

Before using it for the first time, I read the instruction manual and familiarised myself with it. I was slightly intimidated by the first ten pages, which consist exclusively of warnings in large red letters. Texts such as "Never leave the appliance unattended" or "Children under the age of eight must not operate the blender" made the little Daniel Gyro Gearloose in me beat faster. Because: what could possibly go wrong? 😁

Functions and applications

The NutriBullet Rx works fully automatically for the most part. As soon as it is connected to the power supply and the small switch-on button on the left-hand side is pressed, it is ready for use. The blending process starts automatically as soon as the container is placed in the base. Unlike many other blenders, it does not have a speed regulator, but chops the contents in a sophisticated cycle. This takes about a minute and changes its speed automatically during this time. This ensures that the entire contents are chopped into a fine puree at the same time. Lifting the container ends this process automatically or it can be repeated several times if necessary. It sometimes happens that food gets jammed or sticks to the wall. In this case, you can separate the container from the base, shake it briefly or tap it on a stable surface, place it back in the base and continue blending. Repeat this until the contents have reached your desired consistency.

In addition to the normal blending function, this version of the NutriBullet can also prepare soup directly. To do this, press the round "Magic" button on the front part of the base for about two seconds once the container is in the base. As soon as this button lights up, the soup function is active. The NutriBullet Rx mixes and heats the contents of the container up to 65 °C at the same time. Here too, everything works fully automatically. The programme only takes around seven minutes, after which you have a ready-made soup that you can enjoy straight away.

Specifications

Now let's get to the hard facts. What does this blender actually do? The 1,700 watt electric motor is located inside the base. It delivers up to 30,000 revolutions per minute and has a whopping 2.3 hp! That's more than a conventional moped. These have just 1.5 hp at 4,000 revolutions with a 50cc engine. A small air-cooled outboard motor for a boat has the same engine power as the NutriBullet Rx. You can really do anything with it.

In addition, as already mentioned above, there are three different containers in the blender packaging. A 0.7 litre and a 1.2 litre jug for smoothies and a 1.0 litre container especially for soups. Unfortunately, an additional blade is not included. You have to throw stones into the blender to destroy these solid metal blades. I managed to chop hard objects such as nuts without any problems
.

Conclusion

The NutriBullet Rx is a monster among blenders. With its powerful electric motor, it makes everything (and everyone) small. The accessories included in the scope of delivery are quite extensive. Included are two different sized containers for smoothies and a jug especially for soups. You also receive valuable tips for delicious drinks in different variations with the accompanying book.

However, this appliance does have a few small disadvantages. The weight and size of this machine should not be neglected. I personally have a rather small kitchen and therefore have to constantly adjust it so that I don't keep tripping over it. Due to its powerful motor, the noise level when blending is also relatively high. You can compare the noise it makes to a conventional hoover. So if you have thin walls at home and want to treat yourself to a smoothie in the morning, I recommend preparing it the evening before and storing it in the fridge overnight. This also has the advantage that you can enjoy the smoothie cold. It is usually a little lukewarm immediately after blending, as the rapid rotation of the blade heats up the contents.

I can recommend this version of the NutriBullet if you want a lot of power and want to use it regularly to make soup. Otherwise, you would be better off with a smaller and therefore cheaper model.
