Now Dyson has designed two hair clips that will hold your hair together even during a rodeo ride on a jackhammer. Don't you think? Just how well the Dyson clips work is demonstrated in this short TikTok video from their Hair Labs. I have to admit, I laughed out loud when I first saw the video.

What is Dyson doing differently here?

Back to the brackets. They were primarily designed to complement Dyson's existing hair styling tools, such as the Airwrap. So that you can divide your hair into different sections. A technique that I also like to use. Just with ordinary hair clips. Dyson's clips are supposed to be robust and comfortable. Robust sounds good, because a few clips have already cut their teeth on my head (rest in peace my beloved dolphin clip).

According to Dyson, the design is as delicate as possible so that it doesn't get in the way during styling, but at the same time can fix as much hair volume as possible.
In contrast to regular models, the teeth of the "Wide Hair Clip" are not only attached along the edge of the clip, but also across it, right under the "butterfly wings". The second model, the "Sectioning Hair Clip", appears to be modelled on the so-called "Croc Clips", which are somewhat reminiscent of a crocodile. What is striking here is that Dyson's model completely lacks the teeth that are otherwise typical for it.

According to Dyson, the clips are suitable for all hair types and are currently only available in Singapore. There, a four-pack (two of each type) costs 69 Singapore dollars. That's the equivalent of just under 12 francs per clip, which is significantly less than the price of some accessory hair clips out there. They are set to conquer the Swiss market soon.

I don't like the look of the clips, if only because of the dominant Dyson logo. But I understand that the clips are more useful as styling tools (and a bit of advertising space in hairdressing salons) than as a fashion statement. However, they could be very useful for sports. Because unlike hair ties, they don't cause any damaging friction on the hair. So far, however, my clips have lacked the necessary bite to survive a Pilates class. Let's see, maybe a product test will follow soon ...
