The satellite hotspot for your smartphone saves your life

An intelligent rescue and safety system for all outdoor activities comes from Germany. The "A Live Smart Safety Tool" independently alerts the rescue service and thus shortens the response time.
Thousands of outdoor sports enthusiasts around the world get into difficulties every year. When hiking, sailing, mountain biking or freeriding, they need help after an accident. The "A Live Smart Safety Tool" from ProteGear not only recognises emergencies; in areas without network coverage, it serves as a satellite hotspot for the smartphone. The safety tool can also independently alert the emergency services and transmit its exact position. Details in the video above.

Mobile radio and iridium
According to the manufacturer, the device can reduce the response time of the emergency services by up to 90 per cent. To do this, the "A Live" uses both the mobile phone network and the Iridium satellite network, worldwide. Costs: around 500 euros excluding data tariff.
It is not yet clear if and when this product will be available at Galaxus. Our colleagues in Product Management are trying their best.
