Product test

The hormone-free eyelash serum by Vivi Beauty put to the test – how impressive is the before-and-after effect?

My eyelashes are naturally short. And straight. And blond. Without the help of eyelash curlers and mascara, you’d struggle to prove they exist. To add to my struggle, the formula of my eyelash serum has been tinkered with. I hope it’s not to my disadvantage ...

My favourite eyelash and brow growth serum by Swiss brand Vivi Beauty is no longer available. Lash'n'Brows Forte was taken off the market and replaced by a new, vegan and hormone-free formula named Lash'n'Brows Reloaded. A welcome development, at least in theory. I’m just wondering if I’ll be as enthusiastic about it as I was with its predecessor. User Stellina699 also seems to be interested in the serum and whether it’s any good, as the comment below shows. Time to find out.

Disclaimer: eyelash serums don’t magically grow new eyelashes for you, but maintain and extend the life of the ones you already have. This means they fall out less quickly. The result? Your eyelashes grow longer and look thicker.

Test phase

There’s a small measuring card included in the product. I hold it against my eyelashes (not easy) and take a photo. As my eyelashes aren’t all the same length and also slightly curved, it’s hard to say how many millimetres I’m starting out with. I guess a comparison will reveal more.

On the card, you can record the start date and the results.

I’m more than happy with my eyebrows and lower lash line, which is why I only use the serum for my upper lashes. I apply the serum, which is more watery than its predecessor, every evening. You run it along your cleansed lids just above your lashes like an eyeliner.

70 days later, I take stock.

Verdict

Two and a half months into the experiment, and I can see a subtle difference on the before and after pictures. Unless my eyes are deceiving me, my eyelashes have grown by one to two millimeters. In everyday life, however, the change is more noticeable. My eyelashes are fuller, slightly longer and easier to pretty up with mascara. What’s more, I get the impression they’re stronger. Having said that, the result isn’t as good as the result I achieved with the old formula over the last year. At the time, even the people around me noticed that my eyelashes had grown quite a bit. In my case, there was no visible discolouration or unpleasant skin reactions.

I’ll definitely use up the serum, as I really appreciate the nourishing aspect. But will I buy more of it? I’m still undecided about that.

As a massive Disney fan, I see the world through rose-tinted glasses. I worship series from the 90s and consider mermaids a religion. When I’m not dancing in glitter rain, I’m either hanging out at pyjama parties or sitting at my make-up table. P.S. I love you, bacon, garlic and onions.
