The game has been chosen: sign up for the digitec Playground 3

«Call of Duty Modern Warfare» is the game of the hour. Now we know where the third digitec Playground will be set: in the fictitious war zone of Verdanks. Sign up now to enter the tournament.

Out of the 14 games available for the digitec Playground 3, three immediately took the lead: Riot's «CS:GO» alternative «Valorant», Nintendo's anarchic «Super Smash Bros.» and Activision's long-running «Call of Duty: Modern Warfare». More specifically the «Warzone» multiplayer mode. With almost twice as many votes as the competition, «Warzone» silenced any doubters. No dubious claims of election fraud here. The registration pages are now online. Let the Battle Royale... begin.

One cup, two tournaments

For the first time ever, digitec Playground will consist of two tournaments. The pros among you can register as a complete team. And for anyone else, make sure you join in the second tournament. It's bound to be a blast! Naturally, teams won't be able to participate in the latter competition, only individual players. Teams are then put together later on by a random generator.

You'll be playing in teams of three. The professional tournament starts off with two qualifying rounds in which 15 teams will compete for a spot in the final on 30 January. If a whole bunch of you sign up, the final might be increased to 40 instead of 30 teams.

The public tournament will only take place on the final day and consist of 30 teams of 3. Participants are drawn into random teams.

The game will be played exclusively online. Due to Corona, we won't host a local final.

Schedule and sign up

Professional teams may register for both qualifiers. The server limit for both tournaments is 150 players, but can be increased if there's a large response.

– 17. January: 1. qualifier – click here to register as a pro.

– 23. January: 2. qualifier – click here to register as a pro.

Sign up is open until the respective tournament day.

Entry conditions

All participants must be 18 years of age or present parental permission at registration. In addition, at least two out of three players per team must either be resident in Switzerland or have a Swiss passport.

Prizes

In cooperation with our partners Logitech G and AOC we will present the best four professional teams and the ten best public teams with worthy prizes. As soon as we’ve defined the final details, we’ll let you know what prizes are up for grabs.

Livestream

The final will be streamed and commentated live on January 30th on Twitch and Youtube.

Good luck!

Being the game and gadget geek that I am, working at digitec and Galaxus makes me feel like a kid in a candy shop – but it does take its toll on my wallet. I enjoy tinkering with my PC in Tim Taylor fashion and talking about games on my podcast http://www.onemorelevel.ch. To satisfy my need for speed, I get on my full suspension mountain bike and set out to find some nice trails. My thirst for culture is quenched by deep conversations over a couple of cold ones at the mostly frustrating games of FC Winterthur.
