The first Urban Bike Festival in Zurich - the most important innovations and highlights!
The Urban Bike Festival took place in Zurich for the first time from 1 to 3 April 2016, attracting a total of around 20,000 visitors to Turbinenplatz and Schiffbau. In addition to the Urban Bike Expo, where numerous brands presented their new products for the urban cycling experience and made them available for testing, the organisers also provided a varied and diverse entertainment programme.
The supporting programme: the world's best street trial athlete as a guest in Zurich
The appearance of the world's best street trial athlete, Danny MacAskill, who came to Zurich with his Drop and Roll Tour for the festival, was particularly spectacular. MacAskill's world-famous YouTube videos already have over 150 million views! And the Scottish bike acrobat also thrilled the numerous spectators on Turbinenplatz with his tricks and stunts at the Urban Bike Festival.

I also found the Urban Cyclocross exciting, a cyclocross competition that took place at the Letten Viaduct and Josefwiese, where amateur and professional cyclists battled over kerbs and steps on their racing bikes. The balance bike race for very young cycling fans and - my personal highlight - a bike-powered coffee stand also attracted a lot of attention.

Citybikes: a paradise for retro fans!
City bikes naturally took centre stage among the products. And the trend here is clearly retro! Brands such as UrbanRider, Creme Cycles and Bombtrack clearly focus on the old-school style and inspire with beautiful bikes in great colours and with lots of little eye-catchers in the details.

Of course, you can also find these and many more city bikes here:
Velo accessories: true fashion statements!
The retro trend also continued with bike accessories, where the vintage look clearly dominated. At the same time, however, many brands also focussed on the latest technologies and presented innovative products such as a luminous seat post or an airbag helmet.
