More and more electric cars are being driven on Swiss roads. So much so that sometimes finding a public charging point is like looking for a needle in a haystack. The Confederation is hoping to remedy the problem with a new interactive map.
On the ich-tanke-strom.ch website, you'll not only find the charging stations in your area, but you'll also see whether the stations are occupied or free. This is where the Confederation's map differs from other offers that simply show the location of charging stations on a map. The interactive map currently has information on the largest networks of charging stations in Switzerland, such as GreenMotion, Move, Swisscharge and Plug'n Roll, as well as that of local supplier Eniwa. The range is set to expand gradually.

Is it free here?
The Swiss Federal Office of Energy is making the map available, allowing developers to use it to programme their own applications. As an example, a press release says: "The interface can also be queried specifically so that, for example, all free charging stations with a specific connector type within a 10km radius are displayed."Perhaps soon we'll be able to ask out loud, "Is this still free?"-addressing not only other passengers, but also the voice assistant...
